Hello from Japan!

Life has been very busy since I left Provo for my Foreign Business Excursion (FBE) to Asia. In anticipation for my long flight, I decided to stay up the night before so that I could be tuckered out and ready to sleep when we left LAX. I said goodbye to Autumn and left for the airport at about 5am. I don’t know why, but it was really hard leaving Autumn this time. Maybe it is because she is nine months pregnant. Maybe it is because this is the longest we will be apart since we have been married or maybe a little of both perhaps. Nevertheless, it was difficult.

We flew from Salt Lake to LAX and had a three hour layover. Our plane from LAX to Korea was huge! It was the biggest plane I traveled on. Because I was so tired, I was able to crash for 6 hours. This was nice since it was a 13 hour flight. On the plane I was able to try some Korean food and I was actually impressed; it was quite good. I was expecting some rotten cabbage or something, but instead I had some beef, rice, vegetable, hot stuff concoction. I liked it a lot.

In Korea we hopped a plane to Osaka Japan and then took a bus to our hotel in Kyoto. So far, from what I could see traveling in a bus in the dark, Japan looks a lot like California, but with a lot more neon..

I was very happy to get to the hotel. By all was said and done I had been traveling for 30 hours straight. When I finally got to my room, I was able to get to sleep very quickly and it was one of those deep hard sleeps.. Felt very nice…
